የአሜሪካ መንግሥት እ.ኤ.አ. በ2000 መገባደጃ ላይ ያፀደቀው የአፍሪካ ዕድገትና ዕድል ወይም አጎዋ (African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) ከሰሃራ በታች ለሚገኙ የአፍሪካ አገሮች ትልቅ የገበያ ዕድልን የፈጠረ መሆኑ ይታወቃል።  (AGOA) ለአሜሪካ ገበያ ከቀረጥና ከኮታ ነፃ በሆነ መልኩ ከሰሃራ በታች ካሉ የአፍሪካ አገሮች ለተመረጡ ምርቶች ያቀርባል። በመሆኑም አጎዋ የተሰኘው የአሜሪካ ነፃ የገበያ ዕድል ከሰሃራ በታች ለሚገኙ የአፍሪካ አገሮች የኢንድስትሪ ምርቶቻቸውን ከኮታና ከቀረጥ ነፃ በሆኑ መልኩ ወደ አሜሪካ ገበያ እንዲልኩ፣ በዚህም ንግዳቸውን እንዲያስፋፉና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ለውጥ እንዲያመጡ ሰፊ ዕድል የሰጠ ነው።

EBG earmarks ETB 5 billion for new automotive assembly lines

The proposed measures aim to mitigate these risks, although there are concerns about potential adverse effects on access to finance and the need for nuanced approaches.

Investment board lays groundwork for trade business liberalization

Under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia cautiously allows foreign participation in trade sectors with a directive outlining requirements. For export permits, entities must prove procurement values for coffee, oilseeds, and khat over consecutive years. The move, part of the Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda, aims to balance opportunities for local investors. Import permits are available for manufacturers, while state control remains over strategic imports like fertilizers and petroleum products. Foreign retail businesses must meet a minimum floor area threshold for supermarkets.
